Doctor by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid with the thesis Estudio de la interacción del eje PSGL-1/selectina P en la regulación de la muerte celular de los neutrófilos y monocitos en los pacientes con lupus eritematoso sistémico 2023. Supervised by Dr. Ana Urzainqui, Dr. Santos Castañeda Sanz.
Academic Background: I graduated in Biology in 2016 from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), providing me the opportunity to undertake internships at the Instituto de Investigación de Enfermedades Raras (IIER) of the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII) for one year. In the 2016-17 period, I completed the official Master's program in Neuroscience at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, conducting my internships at the Faculty of Medicine of UAM for one year. In 2018, I started my doctoral thesis within the Official Postgraduate Program in Molecular Biosciences at UAM, at the Instituto de Investigación de La Princesa (IIS-Princesa) of the Hospital Universitario de La Princesa (HUP), obtaining the title of doctor in 2023. During my thesis, I have done various courses, including animal experimentation courses for functions B and C, a Flow Cytometry Panel Design course organized by Becton Dickinson (BD), an image processing in microscopy course, a Microscopy and Applications course, and a basic immunology course. I hold a B2 English certification from UAM. Research: I have conducted research at various institutions, such as the IIER of ISCIII, where I investigated molecular markers in patients with rare lung diseases. At the Faculty of Medicine of UAM, I analyzed memory consolidation in mice using electrophysiological techniques, in addition to conducting behavioral studies. Subsequently, I developed my doctoral thesis at the IIS-Princesa of HUP. The focus of my thesis was the study of different molecular markers and cell death in monocytes and neutrophils of patients with lupus and healthy donors, using fluorescence techniques such as flow cytometry and confocal microscopy. During my thesis, I have published 8 articles in international journals. Additionally, I have participated in 10 national congresses and 6 international congresses. Finally, I completed a two-month stay at the Pharmacology Institute of the University of Medicine in Innsbruck, where I was able to contribute my knowledge obtained during the development of my doctoral thesis to the optimization of one of the group's research lines.
